Apr 2011 - Kiwanis Club of Tsawwassen, Ladner takes the Lead

The Kiwanis Club of Tsawwassen, Ladner steps up their team participation in Delta Hospital Foundation’s 3rd Annual Walk for Health and challenges all other community members and organizations to do the same. The 3rd Annual Walk for Health takes place on 30 April 2011 from 10:00 am to 2:00pm on Delta Hospital grounds.

Jim Matson, a Kiwanis Club of Tsawwassen, Ladner, explained: “The Walk for Health offers a great opportunity for local businesses and organizations to get into the community and help the hospital”.

“We’ve signed up 6 walkers; we’re going to walk more than 20kms between us. I am challenging other individuals and organizations to register and do the same!”

Jackey Zellweger, Event Coordinator at Delta Hospital Foundation, encourages Matson’s enthusiasm: “We’ve been spreading the word all over Delta. I’m delighted that we’ve already have over 80 people from individuals to local businesses and organizations like the Kiwanis Club of Tsawwassen, Ladner; Vicki Huntington’s Office; Century Group; and Delta Hospital’s ECU. This year we have a special prize for the team who raises the most money.” The 2011 prize for the Top Fundraising Team is a $200 fully catered lunch sponsored by Thrifty Foods.

The Walk for Health is a community walkathon fundraiser for Delta Hospital on 30 April from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Over 250 enthusiastic walkers participated in 2010 and raised $57,000. Taking place on Delta Hospital grounds, the day also features a warm up with Certified Personal Trainer Shannon Wood of Muscle Memory, live music by Celtic folk band Doghouse, face painting by Nurse Next Door-Delta, and dedication doves within the Forest for our Future.

All teams should register in advance. Registration itself is free. Participants can register as individuals or as part of a team.
