Apr 2011 - RBC Donates $20, 000 for Priority Equipment
RBC donated $20,000 to the Delta Hospital Foundation to fund priority equipment, specifically an Aerosol Provocation System (APS) dosimeter. Since 1999, the RBC has been an important supporter of the Foundation’s fundraising efforts by repeatedly contributing to Delta Hospital’s capital campaigns – such as the Emergency Room, Operating Room and Endoscopy Suite.
Karl Sterk, RBC Branch Manager, was extremely pleased to donate the funds to Delta Hospital: “RBC is committed to building stronger communities by supporting community hospitals across Canada. This investment will help ensure that the thousands of people served by the Delta Hospital each year will continue to have access to state-of-the-art equipment, facilities and programs.”
Stacey Boyda, Delta Hospital Foundation’s Individual Giving Manager, was ecstatic to receive the funds which will purchase this vital equipment for respiratory health: “asthma is a disease with no cure. However, with early detection and treatment it can be a managed. This donation will help us purchase the equipment necessary for the Hospital to diagnose asthma for the community. We are continually humbled by the RBC Foundation’s dedication to the Foundation. It has continuously helped us purchase equipment and in turn provide the best healthcare for Delta”.
APS dosimeters are used to accurately measure dosages of methacholine. Methacholine is a substance used in diagnosing asthma through contracting the patient’s airway to determine if it is obstructed. The accurate measurement from the APS dosimeter can determine if test changes occur above 20% - which determines asthma. This helps diagnose more people, especially children, with asthma so that they can breathe easier and live a full and vibrant life.
RBC is committed to making a lasting social impact through inspired, responsible giving and by building strong partnerships with the charitable sector. RBC has invested more than $56.6 million with charities in hundreds of communities worldwide in 2010. They support endeavours that empower organizations to make a difference and inspire others.
The Delta Hospital Foundation is the community partner for quality health care. It raises funds so the community has access to the best medical services close to home. Since 1988, Delta Hospital Foundation has raised over $22 million.
