April 2010 - Delta Firefighter Support Golf Tourney

Preparations for the Delta Hospital Foundation’s Delta Health Golf Classic are in full swing. In its 11th year, the annual hospital fundraiser set for May 27, is once again being presented by the Delta Fire Fighters Charitable Society.
 
Voted the Best Golf Tournament in South Delta in 2009, it takes place again at Kings Links by the Sea. Offering a ‘true Scottish golf experience’ the course overlooks beautiful Boundary Bay and is sure to challenge players of all levels.
 
The firefighters have supported the tournament since its inception and are always on hand manning the BBQ station on the course. Tournament chair and foundation board member Bruce Fougner is grateful for their support. “They make this tournament something really special in the community”, says Fougner. “It’s just great having the guys out to help at the event and we never have to worry about the food being burned!” he quipped.
 
In 2009, over $146,000 was raised to fund new arthroscopy equipment for wrist and ankle surgery. The always sold-out tournament features a great day of 18-holes which includes power cart, BBQ lunch, golf contests, cocktail reception, dinner sponsored by the River House, raffles and a great live auction.
 
All tournament entries by May 6th will be eligible for the early bird “Ladner Luxury Escape” draw which includes a night at River Run Cottages, dinner for two at La Belle Auberge Restaurant and a guided kayaking tour with Kaymaran Adventures.
