April 2010 - Dr Art Hister to Attend Walk for Health

Dr. Art Hister to attend hospital’s Walk for Health
Well known media medical physician, Dr. Art Hister will be making a house call at Delta Hospital on Sunday May 2 at the Walk for Health event. Dr. Hister will be speaking at 10 am opening ceremonies on the benefits of walking and will take part in the family fundraising event.
Currently, Dr. Hister is a daily health analyst on the Morning News on Global TV in BC and on CKNW’s Morning News, and he is the resident health analyst for Up All Night on BBC 5 as well as Global TV’s Noon News and Weekend News.
“We are very excited that Dr. Hister and his wife Phyllis will be joining us this year,” says Delta Hospital Foundation communications coordinator Neil Corbett. “He’s such a terrific speaker and with his combined knowledge of medical issues and great sense of humour, we’re all really looking forward to his first visit to Delta Hospital.”
To underline his passion about the importance of health prevention, Dr. Hister has become a member of the Leadership Council of ActNowBC, a government initiative whose mandate is to make British Columbia into the healthiest jurisdiction to ever host the Olympic Games.
Walk for Health is a pledge style fundraiser which has participants walking 2, 5, or 10km distances around hospital grounds. There is also a Health and Wellness Fair, lunch BBQ, music by Doghouse and face painting, bouncers and a super slide for the kids. About 200 participants of all ages are already registered.
Participation is free, but those pre-registered with a $25 donation will receive a cool red 2010 Walk for Health t-shirt. Register in advance at www.deltahospital.com or before 9:30 am on Sunday. T-shirts will be limited at the event.
