Delta Hospital Foundation Clarifies Statement on Parking at Delta Hospital
 
Delta, December 1, 2011 – The Delta Hospital Foundation clarifies a statement made in the November 30, 2011 Vancouver Sun article, “Delta, Mission hospital under pressure to charge for parking”.
 
Roy Thorpe-Dorward, a Fraser Health spokesperson, was incorrect when he inferred that donations to the Foundation were indirectly being used to maintain and upgrade parking facilities at Delta Hospital. The Foundation would like to make it clear that no funding from the Foundation has been used in maintaining the parking lots at the hospital. The Foundation is aware of Fraser Health position on paid parking at the hospital; however, it is a matter that is between the municipality of Delta and Fraser Health.  
 
“The Foundation is the community’s bridge to the hospital”, said Teresa Cooper, Delta Hospital Foundation Executive Director. “We are here to ensure that our donor’s wishes are carried out in the manner that they intend. To date, we haven’t had any requests for gifts to be directed to parking but that does not say we wouldn’t. If a donor came forward with a wish to designate their gift to parking facilities at the hospital, we would be more than happy to see their wishes through”.
