July 2010 - Hospital Celebrates Opening of Serenity Garden

On Wednesday July 7, Delta Hospital celebrated the official opening of a new garden area and greenhouse, named ‘Serenity Garden’. Mountain View Manor residents and staff were elated to unveil donor recognition signage in thanks to the community’s generous efforts in making the wheelchair accessible greenhouse a reality.
The $40,000 greenhouse was made possible by the fundraising efforts of the Delta Hospital Foundation and the Delta Hospital Auxiliary, with contributions of $17,600 from Trinjan and many volunteer hours from the Rotary Clubs of Ladner and Tsawwassen. The long awaited project included the revitalization of the south patio and surrounding garden area.
Many residents of Mountain View Manor have agricultural backgrounds and recreational time plays a very important part of their daily lives. A great need was found for a wheelchair accessible greenhouse where all residents would be able to participate. Residents will now be able to tend to a variety of plants, vegetables and herbs, which is both enjoyable and therapeutic.
Mountain View Manor provides a home-like atmosphere and services are customized to meet the unique needs of each individual. Delta Hospital strives to provide outstanding health care and quality of life for seniors and is grateful for projects such as Serenity Garden which allow residents to continue to enjoy life to the fullest.
