March 2010 - Tsawwassen Legion Donates $4,000 to Foundation

The Royal Canadian Legion 289 of Tsawwassen has been a long time supporter of Delta Hospital, raising funds through a variety of events. On March 25, Legion members Bob Wilkinson and Lloyd Adams were pleased to present $4,000 to Shelley Slaughter, Charitable Gifts Manager of the Delta Hospital Foundation.
 
The generous donation will be used to purchase an additional bariatric wheelchair for the hospital’s ER. The specialty heavy duty wheelchair will be used for patients that exceed the weight capacities of conventional wheelchairs and are able to manage up to 850 pounds. A single bariatric wheelchair in currently in use in the hospital’s inpatient unit but a second was urgently needed for ER use.
 
The foundation is extremely grateful to the Legion for their ongoing support of its annual events. As a supporter of both the Delta Health Golf Classic and Moonlight Gala, the Legion is recognized as a Gold level Make a Difference sponsor of Delta Hospital. In appreciation, MD sponsors are given special recognition at foundation events and on signage throughout the hospital.
