Generous Donation Helps Bring Cancer Diagnosis to Delta Hospital

DELTA, October 25, 2011 – The Delta Hospital Foundation is excited to receive a $4,000 donation from the Royal Canadian Legion #289 – Tsawwassen. This donation will help to purchase essential cancer care equipment allowing the residents of Delta to be diagnosed and treated in their own community.
The money donated by the Royal Canadian Legion #289 will help to purchase an Uretero-Reno Videoscope – a state-of-the-art scope used to diagnose kidney cancer. The flexible scope produces an image quality far superior to the more common fiber-optic scopes. Because there is no screening program for kidney cancer, it will give the doctors at Delta Hospital the necessary information to make the best possible diagnosis and increase our patients’ chance for survival.
Legion members, Bob Wilkinson and Terry Nylander, are pleased to present Delta Hospital Foundation Executive Director Teresa Cooper with the cheque. “Throughout their support of our hospital, the Legion’s generosity has allowed for the newest equipment to provide the best health care in Delta”, said Cooper. “This donation towards the scope will help the residents of Delta stay in our community for cancer diagnosis procedures close to their families”.
