Sept 2010 - Moonlight Gala: A Great Success

Over 230 guests at the Delta Hospital Foundation’s 12th annual Moonlight Gala, September 25 hosted at the new Boundary Bay Airport terminal, took to the skies raising $250,000 for the Foundation’s Around the World themed event presented by Envision Financial. 

 
Arriving guests got the ‘first-class’ treatment as they were welcomed aboard by volunteers from Paris, Venice, Shanghai, Mumbai and New York. The theme encouraged guests to taste culinary flavours from the five featured cities in an elegant cocktail reception, dinner and dessert.  The international transformation of Alpha Aviation’s 15,000 square foot facility gave a spectacular feeling of globetrotting as guests walked about the Shanghai lounge viewing over 95 silent auction items as well as an exciting live auction by auctioneer Delta Councillor-Elect Ian Paton. 
 
Presenting sponsor Envision Financial’s Barry Christianson spoke of their commitment and support for community organizations like the Delta Hospital Foundation. This marks the first of two years that Envision Financial will be supporting the gala as the presenting sponsor. 
 
Local actor Jackson Davies was master of ceremonies for the night, entertaining everyone with his unique brand of humor. He noted Delta as an extremely caring community that recognizes the importance of such causes as the hospital. 
 

The Foundation’s Executive Director, Teresa Cooper, said that since the Gala an anonymous donor has been generously offered to top up the mo
nies raised to a total of $250,000 from the night’s proceeds of over $220,000.
 
The excitement of the evening hit its highest altitude with the presentation of the cheque to the Delta Hospital Foundation chair, Lois Wilkinson, by the ecstatic Gala chair, Sarah Toigo. "I am very pleased with the outcome of the evening," said Toigo. "We reached our goal. Delta is a very lucky community to have such dedicated volunteers and residents who make these events so successful."
