Forest For Our Future

"He who plants a tree plants hope", Lucy Larcom
Two and a half years ago ground broke and the cultivation of an urban forest on Delta Hospital grounds began. The Forest for Our Future is part of a long-term commitment by the Delta Hospital Foundation and Fraser Health to provide for the patients of the hospital and the entire community a place for relaxation and tranquility.

The Forest for our Future is what happens when a community comes together. It truly was a partnership with the whole of the community, from organizations to individuals, which built the forest and left a legacy to future generations. The relationship between Delta Hospital Foundation, the Corporation of Delta and Fraser Health became the soil in which this space could grow. Tsawwassen First Nation and the Delta Museum and Archives Society acted as the foliage for the Forest. Organizations countless individuals donated their time and services to provide the nourishment in which the Forest could flourish. Above all, it was one man’s generosity that provided the symbolic ground on which this Forest could be created. Al Hollinger, a long time Delta Resident, wanted to give back to the community that had supported him through the years. Through a gift in his estate, Mr. Hollinger provided all the funding to bring Forest of our Future to fruition.
The Forest is a lasting legacy to the community as it symbolizes Delta as a community that looks towards tomorrow.
