Message from the Chair

This Spring, we were very fortunate to receive an incredibly unique donation, a Mini-Home for us to use with a lottery!  This farm-themed family activity centre will be raffled off in a lottery this September.  From conception to creation, the mini-home has been a labour of love for three generous Delta residents and has blossomed into a community project.  All materials, supplies, and labour needed to create this mini-home were donated by the community.
 
Our fundraising events this spring have been successful beyond expectations.  The 3rd Walk for Health saw over 200 participants walk, skip, and roll their way around hospital grounds while raising over $50,000.  Our sold-out Delta Health Golf Classic raised over $144,000 for Cancer Care at Delta Hospital.  The Cancer Care Fund is a newly designated Fund dedicated to early diagnosis and detection through the purchase of diagnostic equipment.  The golfers enjoyed an amazing day of sunshine on the most beautiful of courses, Kings Links by the Sea.
 
This newsletter marks my final message as Chair of the Delta Hospital Foundation Board.  At the AGM in September, I will transition to the role of Past Chair.  It has been my honour to serve as Board Chair for the past two years.  As the Foundation moves forward, I am proud and humbled to have witnessed our community’s deep commitment to Delta Hospital and its dedication to ensure the sustainability and success of the hospital.
 
My sincerest gratitude to a very dedicated and involved Board of Directors, a highly professional and hard working staff at the Foundation office, and, of course, all the wonderful volunteers and generous donors who make this Foundation such a wonderful organization.  As we look to the future and the unveiling of the Master Site Plan, I have no doubt that our hospital will continue to grow and provide exceptional health care for our community.
